The Tibetan Literacy Project is currently sponsoring 20 children: 11 girls and 9 boys. 3 are in College, studying to become teachers, 6 are in elementary school and the rest are in secondary school. Three girls sponsored by the project completed College training to become teachers and are currently teaching.
All of the children are from nomadic families living in or around villages in Amdo, Tibet.
A Village elder is our local contact who makes recommendations for children whose families are in dire financial need or children who are orphaned. This local contact oversees the finances and ensures that your money goes towards tuition and school expenses.
