The Tibetan Literacy Project sends disadvantaged and orphaned children from nomadic villages in Kham and Amdo, Tibet to bilingual schools. Since 2010, we have given dozens of children the opportunity to receive the education they deserve.
We currently sponsor 24 children: 13 girls and 11 boys from elementary school up to and including college. 4 young women sponsored by the Project have now graduated from college and returned to their villages as teachers.
The Project runs entirely on volunteer efforts to ensure that every dollar you give goes directly to the children's education. |
Each Child Receives Support in Four Categories
Tuition
Before the children become sponsored by people like you, they have never owned a book. We pay for their yearly school fees, all school supplies and books.
|
Boarding
As the children's villages are hundreds of kilometers away, we provide safe, comfortable housing for them at school.
|
Meals
We provide three healthy & balanced meals per day to help keep the children's growing bodies and minds strong and focused on learning.
|
Transportation
Most remote villages in Tibet do not have schools. We help provide safe transportation for children coming from remote places, bringing them to school, and home to see their families over the holidays.
